Building Instructions for DogChaser

You can find Step 1 here... 48 steps in all.

I hope the pictures are good enough to demonstrate the proper placement of pieces. Some of the pieces you might be wondering what they're function is - I add some pieces on the underside to keep the cables from scraping the ground... another piece on the neck keeps the cables to the Ultrasonic and Sound sensor under control.

I looked at some of your other photos, Jim and I like the case that you have for the NXT. What brand is it and where did you get it?
They're manufactured by ZAG... I think I posted a link early in the blog about where you could buy them... but I don't remember how far back it was...

I have 2 of them... bought as a package deal at Sam's Club.

Thanks. I found similar ones on the net - made by Stanley, as in tools and garage door openers.

Jim,

Did all of the pieces for DogChaser come from the NXT retail/educational version (570+ pieces), or did some of them come from your personal stash of stuff?

It looks like all of the connectors you used are included in the commercial kit, but I can't tell for sure without building it.
I built the DC with the retail kit... sorry, should have specified.

Jim,

The DogChaser is a real charmer! (I built it with my 12-year old son).

I'm glad to see that folks are posting some NXT builds for kids. I like to see the "mega builds", but kids need inspiration, too.

We're looking forward to your "NXT Mayan Adventure" book. (We pre-ordered it yesterday from Amazon).
Thanks, Rick... I appreciate it. Glad you also enjoyed building the DogChaser... I'm going to try and provide building instructions for another robot next week... maybe even weekly for a while... have a LOT of ideas and now I've actually got time to build some of them because my book writing duties are done (for now).

Take care,

Jim
