Are you getting a percentage of the sales that will be generated from the Tetris program? Just kidding. Over at bnxt they have a five page advertisement for the robotC language for the LMSNXT. Did I say advertisement? I meant to say white paper. Sorry to be sarcastic, but as one of those people who is strongly against testing software for free I am still not happy about testing robotC and providing feedback and then paying for the final version. I check all of the LMSNXT website and blogs and I hope I'm not seeing a pattern emerging here where websites and blogs become a sales tool for LMSNXT addons and expansions. If I'm the only person who was turned off by the robotC offered for free testing then I will shutup. As you can tell this is a sore subject for me. Tahnk you for letting me vent my frustration.
Wow... I'm not sure what you're wanting me (us) to say. As far as I know, none of us are getting paid by LEGO or any other company to post on this blog... (although I'm a little suspicious of Matthias - he's been wearing a new fur coat that looks expensive)
I don't know much about the RobotC programming language other than it's one of many available languages being developed... I looked at bnxt.com and I see an interview with Q&A's, but I'm not sure it qualifies (to me) as an advertisement. It does mention the price, but so many of the sensors and add-ons that have been covered here (and on other blogs) have also mentioned pricing.
And LEGO's not exactly giving away the NXT! :) I was told a long time ago that a business is in business to make money... makes sense to me.
Will you ever see advertisements on The NXT STEP? I can't promise that, but I don't think so... I don't think advertisements are allowed on blogging sites, anyway.
I've got a book on NXT coming out soon... will I mention it on this blog? AB-SO-LUTELY! Will I put an ugly advertisement on the screen or a pop-up? Never.
Not to be overly critical, but I think you're being a little too sensitive to this issue... but I don't know the entire story about RobotC... maybe you know something I don't...
All I can say is, if you don't like RobotC, don't buy it. But don't try and shoot down innovation or we'll end up with a basic NXT kit and not much else...
Go get some ice cream, Ben... always calms me down.
Lol I love the quote from the etch-a-sketch, "Turn a $250 Lego Mindstorm robot into a $20 etch-a-sketch!"

I agree with ben on the advertising issue... I personally hate paid plugs. I dont mind an ad on the side of the page or whatever but paid plugs that make it sound like the person endorses the product really tick me off.
