Dicke Bertha Typ II: building instructions
To whom it may concern: I've created building instructions for my most complex robot so far, the Dicke Bertha Typ II (already mentioned in a previous post).
Just to give anyone who is on the wing to starting "Ldrawing" a hint about the efforts one has to face with it: though MLCAD is a fantastic tool, whilst creating the LDRAW file for Dicke Bertha Typ II, I listened to
- the international football (am.: soccer) match San Marino - Germany (0-13 ! highest out win ever ;-) )
- a Bollywood movie where some Indian hero (almost) single-handedly stormed a Kashmir hill occupied by disguised Pakistani soldiers (and the heart of an Indian beauty)
- the radio live transmission of the first round of the German football (am.: soccer) cup.
Hence be prepared for creating LDraw files not being the most thrilling experience of your life...

7 Hours isn't that bad...really.
Are there any unofficial parts to load besides the NXT specific brick, motors and such?

Absolutely. I'd rather take the effort for Ldrawing than never be able to rebuild a model I've spent so much "LEGO time" for.

Agreed. Compared with the time I've spent for the Ldraw model for The Slug (which is of similar complexity), I decidedly noticed a progress in efficiency.
Could be a new branch in the LEGO challenges world: LDrawing a given model as fast as possible.
Not that I would like to take part in it ;-)

Besides the "official" unofficial NXT parts that can be found on Philo's page, it's the standard LDraw parts list.

Same here...I've used MLCad since I found verion 1 in 1998. I lost some very cool things before that. Everytime I render something I learn new things and my speed increases.

Me neither! Speed Rendering is not my forte. HoopRover has taken years from my life to complete. Though, I had to find work-time around my children. Which take waaaaaay more rendering time!

I know you know this, but.. The "beauties" are in that ZIP files you offered!

Yes, becuase of the five motors used.
However, with small alterations (e.g.. leaving out one motor for the gun's bolting mechanism and leaving out the motor for rotating the Ultrasonic sensor), it can be built with three motors - in this case, one NXT is required only.

Ah, that's a pity.
A good idea before starting to build a model form instructions (in particular if they are not part of a particular kit) is to consult the contained bills of material first - all parts required are listed there.
