Train places its own track...

It's an RCX design, but maybe someone out there wants to try and create an NXT version... (if you do, email us a photo or video and we'll be happy to share it). The idea is simple - create a train-like device that places its own track down, moves on to the new track, and then retrieves the previous one...

I bet this could be modified pretty easy to make bridge-builder. Like the military has... lay your own bridge, cross the gap and pull your bridge up behind you!

Any discussion of a train laying its own track must include a reference to a similar scene towards the end of the Wallace and Gromit movie, "The Wrong Trousers." Go rent it if you don't know what I'm talking about.
