Building Instructions for Rubik's Cube solver


A month ago Brian Davis posted about Hans Andersson’s Rubik's Cube solver. Yesterday when I visited his website I realized that Hans had published building instructions. All though you need some replacement stickers for your Rubik’s Cube the machine can be built form a single Lego Mindstorms NXT Retail-kit. Check out the new board public projects under LDD.

I added the Rubik's Cube solver as the first submission to this board. Maybe we can get some comments from people an how easy it is to follow the LDD BI's.

It would be constructive for individuals to offer recommendations on how to use LDD rather than simply trash the product.

I built this off of his instructions last week. It performs just like the video! I have the different color stickers on the way from cubesmith so it will be able to solve my cube then. But the functionality is awesome. I had to make a couple small modifications to get the robot built. His instructions are about 98% complete with one small mistake, but it's not hard to figure out what that is if you're building it.

I forgot to mention the battery issue. You have to use 1.2v rechargables. My rechargables are 2650mAh rated. I had to run the batteries down some for it the rubiks program to continue. It will give an error if you use non-rechargables.
Maybe the creator used a lower mAh rating, but fully charged 2650mAh batteries need to be ran down a bit.

I build it too but it's not working as it suppose. The motor that turns the cube has not the power to do it;s job and the color sensor does not recognize the colors correctly. any ideas? And MitchSchaft what are those modifications? can you help us?

It's something you'll have to fool around with and make small tweaks here and there. It's nothing specific, but when you're building it and imagining how it will work, you will run in to something.
