Card dealing robot

Here's a card dealing robot that I've been tinkering with. This robot deals from the bottom of the pack using an NXT wheel to draw out a card. A second NXT wheel spinning 5 times quicker then 'spits' out the card. The whole device is mounted on a turntable to allow the robot to deal into different position.

Nothing overly spectacular, but I like how well the different speeds of the two wheels work to kick out the card.

The program is pretty straight forward and I've got image of it on the website, http://www.domabotics.com/projects.php

That thing is awsome!!! How long did it take you to make it? Great job Damien!

Nice one Damo! Really well created and programmed - yet so simple!

Why does it take out a third card and then push it back into the stack?

me+LEGO=good,

This was probably around 5 hours building over the space of a week, an hour hear and there although the idea had been bouncing around in my head for a while.

bluetoothkiwi,
The first wheel has to spin long enough to draw out the card as well as continue running the second wheel to spit it out. By time it spits out the card from the 2nd wheel, the next card is already loading. A quick reverse of the motors brings it back into place. I could possible reduce the load time, but it was my second trial and error value and it worked well :)

Nice work Damo, cool idea. I was impressed that the cards don't flip over when they spit out.

Chris,

You don't know how many takes it took to get the 'perfect' shot :)

hint: more than 5, less than 15.

So not terribly reliable but lots of fun none the less.

Any chance we could get a schematic for this robot? I've been trying to build something like this for over a year but could never get it to spit out single cards (or just a reliable number of cards)!
