Another thing to do with the huge green wheels...

For the Fana'Briques 2008 event in Rosheim (Alsace, France) I've built a GBC module that eventually became part of Europe's largest GBC ever.
The main idea has been to use the new huge green wheels that LEGO® released this year:

I like how you used the rubber tires to act as gears. I don't think I've seen that before.

Matthias does LOTS of things no one has ever seen before. :)

Matthias: NXC is a big hit around our house now. I started using it, thanks to your very comprehensible introduction to the software in the NXT Da Vinci Inventions Book. (In fine bookstores everywhere).

Why don't you have the wheels just turn continuously?

Rick, thanks. :)
The introduction is somewhat outdated by now, as NXC has been in development still then and has changed in some aspects, but I'm happy that the book inspired the Rhodes to use it. Next to (Java-based) leJOS NXJ, NXC is one of my favourite languages for NXT programs also.

london,

the wheels turned continuously in my first design, but I changed it to discrete movements as it turned out to be a better strategy: in a GBC the upstream modules commonly deliver balls in fits and starts, not continuously as well.
