An attempt on a LEGO® MINDSTORMS Gatling Gun

Some time ago, I got hold on a couple of the Technic Competition Cannons and pondered about a usage of them in a model. As I always had plans to try for a LEGO® Gatling Gun, I decided to make an attempt on it:

What do you think about it?

Yes, I was told yet that these cannons exist for more than four years already. Well, I didn't know... (going to change the post accordingly)

Very cool! (and great video too). I assume this is the same part as the "missile launcher" that comes with the NXT Education Resource Set. I often have to confiscate this part from my FLL teams because they become obsessed with it in a non-FLL way... (quiz/poll for other FLL coaches, what are the #2 and #3 parts from NXT Education Base + Resource that I sometimes have to confiscate as well?)

From the still picture, I thought your gatling gun would spin around and the triggers would just hit something on their way around to achieve a rapid fire, instead of using another motor to hit the triggers (although that looks cool and more controlled). Did you consider this?

Wow...amazing!

thats a good idea,
i still thnk a gattling cannon should be able to reload autonomous. this is possible!
you've got another motor left.

to use only one motor, you could place a slanted beam to that when the cannon trigger hit it, the trigger is pulled back. once pulled back, the trigger will be able to move on in the rotation.
its kinda hard to explain. i don't have cannons to test it though

Dave,

of course you are completely right - the second motor is not required, instead the rotation device could have a trigger that activates the firing mechanism on passing by.
This is just a first version of the gun, though - one day I might return to it and enhance it.
