I am finding the dark grey letters hard to read on the light grey background. The blue letters also don't contract very well. The wide layout is nice, though.

Xander, it took me a while, but I found that the dark grey letters were 'cut'n'pasted' into the post, and not part of the CSS style sheet, I guess we just have to keep an eye on that.
I made the links a darker blue to increase the contrast, but I'm still not 100% happy with them. Suggestions welcome :)

The striped background is quite annoying while scrolling, or is that just me or my computer?

Menno, I got some trippy aliasing effect when scrolling quickly so we have gotten rid of that.

Jarren, hopefully the blue on white (rather than blue on grey) is a little easier to see :)

What I love about this blog is the feedback from our readers. Thanks for all your input, we've made tweaks to make it a little easier on the eyes! (Serves me right for making changes very late at night :D )
